Located in Kent County, DE, Magnolia is a part of the Dover Metropolitan Statistical Area. At the 2010 census the population was 225. Magnolia is approximately 20 miles south of Smyrna and 7 miles to the south of Dover. Magnolia claims both Dutch and Swedish heritage and was formally founded by citizens of the Murderkill Hundred in 1885. The founders laid out the boundary of town in a circle to represent brotherhood. Magnolia formed one of the first volunteer fire companies in Delaware in 1928.
